How to set it up
- Number the plotsIt starts with twelve plots. Change the number, and name any that differ, like “Plot 3, raised bed”.
- Add the rulesPut the season's dates, the fee, the water schedule and the garden's rules in the description.
- Send the linkShare it with last year's gardeners first, then more widely. Everyone is asked for an email.
- Keep in touchUse “Tell people something” to email every gardener about work days and water.
What helps
- Share it with returning gardeners a week before everyone else, if they get first choice.
- Name accessible or raised-bed plots in their row, so the people who need them can find them.
- If there's a waiting list, add a row called “Waiting list” with a bigger count, so people can join it from the same page.
- “One sign-up each” is on, so a household can't take two plots.
Something to send with the link
Copy it into a text, an email or the group chat, change what you like, and paste your link at the end.
Questions people ask
- Can I keep a waiting list?
- Add a row called “Waiting list” with a larger count from your private link. When a plot frees up, you'll know who to ask.
- Why does it ask for an email?
- So you can reach every gardener. This template turns on “Ask everyone for an email address”, and only you and anybody helping you run the page see them.
- What if someone gives up their plot?
- They cancel from their own link, and the plot shows as open again.
