How to set it up
- Set the dayIt starts with three two-hour shifts next Saturday, six parents each. Change the times to when you'll be washing.
- Add the detailsPut the location, the price, and what the money is for in the description.
- Send the linkShare it with the team. Nobody needs an account.
- Check the suppliesBuckets, sponges, soap, towels and a hose. Ask in the description who can bring them, or add a sheet for supplies.
What helps
- Midday is usually the busiest. Put the most people on that shift.
- A couple of people waving signs at the roadside bring in more cars than anyone washing.
- Check the location is fine with the owner, and that soapy water can go where it'll drain.
- A cash box with change, and a way to pay by card or phone if you can, means fewer people driving away.
Something to send with the link
Copy it into a text, an email or the group chat, change what you like, and paste your link at the end.
Questions people ask
- Do players sign up themselves?
- No. The shift goes under a parent's name, and the player comes along. Pages for a youth team ask for adults' names only.
- Can I ask for supplies on the same sheet?
- The shifts layout has a time on every row. For buckets and sponges, make a second sheet with “Things to bring or do”, and share both links.
- What if it rains?
- Use “Tell people something” on your private link to email everyone who signed up and left an address.
