Team practice scheduling poll

Find the weekly practice time the whole team can make.

Find a weekly team practice time that works: families mark the weeknights their player is free, and the best times rise to the top. Each one names whoever can't make it, so you can pick the night and let the team know.

How to set it up

  1. Check the nights and the hoursIt asks about Monday to Friday, late afternoon into the evening. Take off any night your field, gym or rink is never free, and change the hours to the ones you can book.
  2. Send it to the familiesOne answer per player is enough, from a parent. Nobody needs an account, and it works on any phone.
  3. Read the best timesThey show the stretches when the most players are free, with whoever can't make each one named beside it. “Without” works it out again as if one player weren't coming.
  4. Tell the teamA days-of-the-week poll has no date to lock in. Once you've chosen, use “Tell people something” to email everyone who left an address, then stop taking responses.

What helps

  • If you share a field, gym or rink, find out which times you can book before you send this, and only offer those.
  • Thirty-minute blocks find a practice of any length. A ninety-minute practice shows up as three blocks in a row with the same players free all the way through.
  • Have the coaches fill it in as well, so the best times are ones the coaching staff can make too.
  • Send it before the season starts, when families know their other commitments, and give them a few days to answer.
  • With a free account you can make it a repeating practice instead. Families can also say which weeks they're away, and the weeks are laid out once you pick a time.

We're setting the practice schedule for the season and want the night that works for as many players as possible.

Please mark every time your player could usually make practice. One answer per player is plenty, it takes about a minute, and you don't need an account.

Questions people ask

Why days of the week instead of dates?
Because you're looking for a regular time. Families answer “Tuesdays at 6:00 pm” rather than one particular Tuesday. If you need one date instead, like a make-up practice, switch “Which days” to “Specific dates” before you share it.
Can I lock in the time once we've chosen?
Not on a days-of-the-week poll, because there's no date to put in anyone's calendar. Use “Tell people something” on your private link to tell everyone the night you picked, and stop taking responses.
Do families need an account to answer?
No. They open the link, mark their times, type a name and press “Save my times”. An email is optional, and anyone who leaves one gets a link to change their answer later.
Can I see who can't make each time?
Yes. Every best time names whoever can't make it. If you'd rather families didn't see each other's answers until you've decided, turn on “Hide who picked what until you close it”.
