Why does it ask for an email?

Is there a calendar file for each night?

No. A night here has no time on it, and it couldn't be a shift instead, since a shift has to finish on the day it starts. Each sitter gets a copy of their nights by email.

What helps

A sitter who takes several nights in a row is easier on the key than one a night. They can pick them all at once.
List the jobs in the email: plants, mail, bins, a light on in the evening.
Leave an emergency contact and the number of a neighbour who has a spare key.
If plans change and you need cover for an extra night, add a row from your private link.
